A Guide to Fixing External Hard Drive Issues with Windows Tools

How can I determine if my external hard drive is damaged or if I accidentally deleted a folder?

I have two external hard drives: a WD 1TB that I use for long-term storage and a Seagate 4TB that I use for recent files. I noticed that a folder named "Old Games" was missing from the WD drive, along with its contents. However, all the other folders and files were intact. I ran some diagnostic tools and they showed no errors or problems with the drive. I also traveled with both drives during the holidays and I don't think they were exposed to any harmful factors. The missing folder was created over four years ago, so I doubt it was affected by corrupted sectors. I don't care much about the lost games, but I am worried about another folder on the WD drive that contains important academic materials. Should I back it up to the Seagate drive as a precaution? Or is it possible that I deleted the "Old Games" folder by mistake and forgot about it? If so, is there any way to recover it?

Note: I later realized that I have a third external hard drive that has the "Old Games" folder. I confused it with the WD drive because Windows assigns them the same drive letter. This means that I did not delete anything and the WD drive is fine.
