Piedimontes supermarket heritage history hipsters and their favourite foods are in for a treat – according to a new survey conducted by the UK's largest coffee chain.

Saucer shops in the country's big four cities are regularly subjected to intense marketing pressure from major retailers to fill their shelves with fresh goods that appeal to their consumers.

The coffee industry as a whole has been working overtime to create buzz by pushing forward with new brands like Sohu, the company's own take on the coffee drink.

"Consumers want high quality, fresh, healthy, healthy, healthy – you know they're right," says Piedimontes head of marketing Chris Taylor.

Taylor says that Piedimontes has seen a strong customer demand for their fresh produce, with more than 100 million pounds ($144 million) of sales in 2015.

Saucer food has also become a staple of the region's growing hipster communities, Taylor added.

Coffee shop culture in London, which has witnessed several high profile "Saucer Saturdays" - parties organised by coffee chains to draw locals to shops to stock up on their favorite products - has been in a similar direction.

Last year alone, Taylor said the retailer saw over 300 separate customer calls for a coffee shop "this weekend" to stock up on some or all of their products.

For a company which started in 1999, Piedimontes has already developed one new brand, Vibrava, that promises to take on the likes of Starbucks and Jack in the Box as a result of the increasing popularity of healthier food.

Taylor has also taken a keen interest in growing a business niche across British social media and he sees it becoming more and more important to offer products that appeal to the millennial generation, too.

"We're seeing a lot of interest on social media in healthy alternative foods and we're also getting an increase in interest from teens - they know their families and they know that they're interested in these foods and we want to be part of their future, both in the way we make products and in the way we communicate to them what is healthy," he said.

According to an analysis of British customer research conducted by consultancy firm Market Reach, Piedimontes has almost doubled their sales following sales gains of around ВЈ90 million in 2015.

As a result of the success of the chain, Taylor has already set up a full-time position within the company, taking time out to pursue opportunities outside of the chain, such as opening a coffee shop in London's trendy Tooting Town.
